The 2012 New England Bioheat Symposium held in Boston, MA at Fenway Park

Back Story

In much of the United States, residences and businesses use heating oil during the winter months. Over the past decade, the escalating prices of energy, global warming and the dependence on foreign oil has prompted research into alternate types of fuel. Bioheat is a blended domestic additive made from components such as soybeans or ethanol which are combined with home heating oil. Education of both consumers and energy providers is an ongoing mission for Bioheat organizations across the country.

The Challenge

Bioheat has gained inroads in recent years and the task of informing industry professionals about the many benefits and breakthroughs of this innovative substitute is gaining momentum. The National Biodiesel Board, in cooperation with the National and Nebraska Soybean Boards, sponsored a series of seminars and workshops to reach out to industry leaders for greater understanding and adoption of this important alternative. Both organizations also desired to create further publicity and marketing tools as the seminar series worked its way across the country.

Results

With Fenway Park as a backdrop, the 2012 New England Workshop was selected to document what the movement was about and for future promotional purposes. Notable leaders from all areas of the Bioheat spectrum converged for the day long workshop in Boston to educate owners of the regions leading energy companies. Utilizing hand held video and still photography, we captured the spirit and passion of researchers, politicians and Bioheat supporters who came together from across the nation. The final materials are being used to gain further market penetration and traction nationwide.
